Featured Artist: Jesine Munson
Jesine Munson was born and raised in Havre, Montana and has lived in Bozeman since 2007. She has a Master’s degree in Art History from Montana State University as well as a BFA in Ceramics. Jesine is currently working on her PhD in American Studies, reexamining John Dewey’s aesthetics, ethics, and inquiry for the 21st Century. As an artist, Jesine doesn’t define her work by any one medium. She paints, writes, sculpts, photographs. Simply put, she is a maker of things who thrives in sharing the importance of creating and learning. Jesine wants her artworks, no matter what form, to have a characteristic mark of its maker’s hands. More than just a stamp or signature but a thumbprint or a sketch mark, a sign of the process that cannot be replicated. She has recently been recognized locally for her wild-colored dog portraits. Her art will be up in the Belgrade Community Library for November and December of 2020.

I am so honored to be asked to show at the Belgrade Library – I hope these bright and playful pups can bring some joy to your day during these trying times. This series is a few generic breeds that I painted back in 2016. Since, my work had developed in to an even more caricature style really trying to capture the nature of your beloved pet. I am currently booked for commissions for the 2020 Holiday Season but can send out gift cards and put your pet on my waiting list for future work. Thanks for taking the time to engage with my words and my work – it is so greatly appreciated 🙂 I hope it inspires you to go out into that wild world and spread compassion and kindness today! Be well.
