Strategic Plan 2019-2022

Summary

In 2018, the Belgrade Community Library became a member of the pilot program for the Montana State Library Strategic Professional Development Plan. This program allows library support staff to achieve MSL Certification by designing their own rigorous coursework which aligns with their library’s strategic goals and professional interests. At the time, the Belgrade Community Library did not have an official strategic plan in place and so began the strategic planning process in order to best align library staff practices and procedures with MSL’s certification program. In addition, the Library Foundation was operating a Capital Campaign which would lead to funding an expansion of the library; these factors contributed to the need for an official guiding document that would help lead the Belgrade Community Library into a sustainable and competitive future.

After canvassing input from the community and major stakeholders in the library’s organization, the following library objectives were selected as guiding priorities for the next three years:

  • Service: Learn Together
  • Outreach: Strengthen the Community
  • Collections: Optimize Resources
  • Technology: Bridge the Divide

From these objectives, measurable staff goals were created to aim the library, each department, and each individual staff member toward successful fulfillment of the strategic plan.

This strategic plan was accepted by the Library Board of Trustee’s for adoption on March 26, 2019.
