The 2012 Mount Everest Expedition

Mt EverestIn Spring 2012, a team of world-class climbers and scientists, led by prominent Bozemanites, launched an expedition to the earth’s highest peak, Mount Everest in the Himalayas.

The expedition team included climber and MSU geologist Dr. David Lageson, who conducted research as the team made its way across this spectacular region of the world. Through special arrangements with MSU’s Extended University, Dr. Lageson relayed online, and often in real time, his findings to school children and interested adults across Montana and the nation.

In this Wonderlust program at the Belgrade Community Library, Dr. Lageson will treat his audience to a firsthand account of this history-making climbing and science adventure.

Launched to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first American ascent of Everest, the 2012 Expedition was sponsored by North Face, National Geographic, Montana State University, and a program of the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Lageson’s “The 2012 Mount Everest Expedition” is the third of a three-part series presented through a partnership of the Belgrade Community Library and Wonderlust. The series is free to participants through generous sponsorship by First Interstate Bank.

Seating is limited. Call Belgrade Community Library – 388-4346 – to reserve your ticket.
