Downloadable Books Now at Belgrade Library!

We are excited to announce that downloadable audiobooks and ebooks are now available for checkout. This service, offered through MontanaLibrary2Go, features access to over 8,700 digital titles. Books may be downloaded for many popular devices including Kindles, Nooks, Sony Readers, iPads, iPhones, iPods, Androids, and Zunes. Policies

You may checkout downloadable ebooks and audiobooks if you have a current Belgrade Community Library card in good standing. Each patron is limited to 5 checkouts at any one time. You have the option to checkout an item for 7 or 14 days. If an item you want is checked out, you may place it on hold (you will be prompted to enter an email address, and you will be notified via email when the item becomes available).

Book Sale

The Belgrade Library Foundation’s ever-popular book sale will be held on Saturday, June 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, June 11 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday is $2.00 bag sale day! We have an interesting and extensive selection of books for all tastes and ages. This book sale will also include the library’s entire VHS and cassette collections. Proceeds generated will benefit the library.

Summer Reading is Coming!

Summer will be here before we know it, and that means Summer Reading Programs at the library! This year’s theme is Dream Big — Read! All programs are free and open to the public.

ALL AGES WELCOME!

June 13-July 25, 1:00 p.m. – Wednesdays Fun at 1:00
Activities are geared for kids in grades K-4, but we welcome younger and older siblings to participate and make it a family event!
This year we will have great programs. Make sure to check next months’ newsletter and our website for details.

Kids of all ages are welcome to pick up a reading log as soon as school is out, log their reading time, and earn incentives.

Babies & Books: Continues on Thursdays at 11:15 a.m. through July

Our Community Reads: Please join us on Fridays in August for special story times. Local community leaders, including Firemen, Policemen, the City Judge and others, will share their favorite books and talk about their jobs.

Book discussion, opinion sharing, refreshments, and lots of fun! Join us at the library for Adult Book Club, Mystery Book Club, and Teen Book Club. All book clubs welcome new members. Read on to learn about our selections for this month!

Adult Book Club: This month the Adult Book Club will discuss Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. Adult Book Club meets on May 26 at 6:30 p.m in the Library’s community room.

Mystery Book Club: This month the Mystery Book Club will discuss The Rope by Nevada Barr. Mystery Book Club meets on May 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library’s community room.

Teen Book Club: Teen Book Club will discuss Delirium by Lauren Oliver and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Discussion is led by Nicole Gottschall, the Belgrade School District VISTA volunteer, and Rebekah Kamp, the library system administrator. New teens are always welcome. Sponsored by Stageline Pizza. The group will meet at 4:00 p.m. on May 26 in the Library’s community room.

Job Search Assistance

Are you frustrated with your job search or thinking about changing careers? Ask a librarian for help!

We now have a folder with up-to-date, local job listings. If you come to the library to work on your job search, you may request an extended session on one of our eleven public access computers or use our free WiFi connection. Each workstation offers access to the internet and word processing software. From our computers, you can create an online account to search the Montana Job Service website, submit applications, and create resumes. We also offer color printing, faxes, and test proctoring.

If you are not sure where to start, ask at the circulation desk for a USB drive flash drive with resume templates (in library use only). We are also happy to help you find and checkout career, resume, and test prep books. United Way Donates to Juvenile and YA Collections

The Belgrade Community Library would like to express gratitude to the Greater Gallatin United Way, Ms. Carol Townsend and the Board of Directors for a $1,500 donation toward children and young adult materials. Through community outreach with local groups such as the Belgrade School District and the Belgrade Youth Forum, United Way recognized a need for after school activities. Because the library is a central component of our city and freely open to all residents of Gallatin County, it is an excellent gathering place for afterschool leisure time and community enrichment. The library, thanks to United Way’s donation, now offers after school programs for local youth including Game Day and Teen Book Club.

The gift has allowed us to purchase new reading materials, which are displayed in the teen/juvenile room, to attract the attention of our after school participants. The grant will also help us fund Teen Book Club books.

April Book Clubs

Adult Book Club: Have you read a book recently that you couldn’t put down or moved you to tears? This month the Adult Book Club asks that you bring your favorite reads for discussion. Adult Book Club meets on April 26 at 6:30 p.m in the Library’s community room.

Mystery Book Club: This month the Mystery Book Club will discuss The Cater Street Hangman by Anne Perry. Because the library will be closed for staff training, the group has elected to meet at Marilyn Petersen’s home on April 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Teen Book Club: Teen Book Club will discuss The Scorch Trials by James Dashner and Divergent by Veronica Roth. Discussion is led by Nicole Gottschal, the Belgrade School District VISTA volunteer, and Rebekah Kamp, the library system administrator. New teens are always welcome. Sponsored by Stageline Pizza. The group will meet at 4:00 p.m. on April 26 in the Library’s community room.

Bozeman Symphony: Far Afield

The Bozeman Symphony String Trio will perform at the Belgrade Community Library on April 10 at 7:00 pm in observance of National Library Week. The String Trio combines the talents of concertmaster Crarrie Kause, principal violist Mary Carson, and principal cellist Chandra Lind. The ensemble performs a wide range of repertoire with amazing skill. Don’t miss this incredible trio!

The Trio’s performance is sponsored by a community outreach endeavor from the Bozeman Symphony. Established in 1992, the Far Afield Program takes Bozeman Symphony chamber ensembles to rural communities to present free performances and share their musical perspectives. Far Afield enables the audience to see, hear and feel the music being created live instead of through the media of television or radio. All ages welcome!
